Wonderful little booklet about the Bremen and her elusive dash out of NYC and homeward at the onset of WW2. She was painted grey at sea … and made it home to Bremerhaven via Murmansk. Great little German paperback …. Must have been important propaganda to publish this … paper and other materials sure would have been in short supply in Germany in WW2. The poor was Bremen burned out by the end of the war. Pretty rare little booklet… and neat photos! There is a tiny tear on the back cover does not detract in anyway.
Germany was depleted of almost all of their shipping tonnage after WW1 … but NGL was able to get the Bremen back into service. A neat little ship … her name would eventually be reused with the sparkling and amazing Bremen of 1929 (and then the Bremen (rebuilt Pasteur) of 1959. The plan certainly has browned, has some cello tape repair and a waterpoton a fold line … but Kind of rare to find something for one of the few members of the Post WW1 German fleet!

Lovely booklet that sums up the life of the Rotterdam. These seem to be fairly hard to find … as are others in this booklet series. I still get goose bumps when I see the Ritz Carleton and Ambassador rooms …. Truly masterpieces of 50’s Dutch design!
Totally pristine and gorgeous hanging sign for the NA … you would think this was brand new! HAL used a lot of these types of “enameled” signs (as did other Lines) … I have seen them for most ships of in the 50’s. Stamped made in Belgium.
Just about the best interwar brochure Matson did …covers the Lurline, Matsonia, Monterey and Mariposa . Half of the pages have lavish large interior pics (some of the best interior pictures of these ships I have ever seen)… and the remaining pages talk about each destination (like Australia and New Zeeland). Also includes is a rate brochure for 1941 and a page of notes form a voyage. Good condition with a few cover blemishes.
A popular souvenir in the 70’s and 80’s were these plates showing “early” sailing ships and different boat types. These would have been great items to purchase to remember your cruise on the like’s of the Home Lines Oceanic or Atlantic. Great shape!
Cute little calculator to help with the time changes as you were crossing into different time zones on your voyage abroad. Cute as a glass button … and in great shape … completely and utterly still usable!
A nice Moran towing advertisement poster of the QOB being escorted by a powerful Moran tug. This poster came from FOB’s overwhelming collection of memorabilia that touched ever corner of the maritime world … and certainly an Advert he would have commissioned during his tenure at Moran. This will come rolled and shipped in a tube.
Lovely almost pristine pack of Playing cards for the delta line. These ships plied the Caribbean … their major competitor being grace line ships. Loved their “sharp” post-war design.
Lovely press photo of the Liberte being escorted out of NY harbor for the final time. Rumors swirled that she would go to Seattle to be a hotel ship … but she ended her days at La Spezia.
Nice little invite card for cocktails poolside from Captain Stein of the Monterey. This is pristine … looks like it was just signed by the captain himself yesterday.
A lovely fold brochure for the 21 day to Mardi Gras cruise of the Gordon C Greene arriving in New Orleans in March 1941. Named after the founder of the Greene Line … she would be joined after WW2 by her most famous and beloved fleet mate, the Delta Queen. Great little brochure in wonderful shape.
This is such a great little trade publication done in the 1930’s for the shipping industry. There is a lovely Empress of Britain night time photo of the ship all lighted up by floodlights, a great Great Eastern article as well as an overview article on French shipping (Normandie is pictured twice… as well as the Chella and Marechal Joffre).
A favored souvenir item for all French lines ships were these commemorative medallions… the onboard gift shops were loaded with them! The casting details on this one is just marvelous, one side is the liner Flandre in profile, the other side is “Flandre” as a personified female figure. This one is in great shape … just no longer has the round “pillbox” container it would have come in when purchased. Just found this one in a drawer this past week.
Lovely little room/ deck plan for the last Matson passenger sisters. Love the little “Hawaiian” details in the room pictures …from the Theater tiki Lights to the fresh Amaryllis flowers in the cabin vases. These would have been darling little ships to travel on!
Other than her Maiden voyage … the Rio Cruise of the Normandie was probably her most interesting and publicized voyage. This is a huge chapel “knight” oversized menu from Washington’s birthday Feb 22nd 1939. There were not many months of peacetime left in the world at this point…WW2 was looming on the horizon. I am sure all that seems distant to most of the folks onboard as they celebrated and enjoyed certainly one of the best designed liners of all time. There is a little fading/discoloration noted to the edge of this menu. Full of delicious eats! Should be pressed flat in a book … does have a little wave to it .. but still rare and lovely!
Just lovely cruise plan for the Rotterdam. The covers and pages are stiff like they were just printed. The plan covers the areas used for cruising … and has lovely pictures and isometrics of cabins. You can’t beat these! Date from 1968 and have an agency stamp! restocked!
This elegant little 1926 menu dates long before she would have joind the KDF fleet. The menu is in German and English … the passenger must have been English … as they have checked items on that site of the offering. I would have had the potato pancake with mashed apples for sure! YUMMY!

3 menus from a voyage over New Years in 1961 and Fred Fender was in charge. The dinner menus dates from Jan 1st, 2nd and 3rd. Full of lovely delicious items … I’d be even chunkier than now for sure. Great shape with a coulple of small spots from use and storage. Not bad for being almsot 51 years old.
Nice little sheet and envelope from any member of the HAPAG fleet. It has yellowed with age.. and have a few spots … but still entirely useable!
Lovely little brochure for the German companions. The Bremen was basically the pre WW2 French liner Pasteur rebuilt from the hull up …. and the Europa was the postwar SAL Kungsholm with a few tweaks including new wallpaper and paint. Full of great full page photos, this is a great little reference items for the ships.
Perfect heavy glass ashtray for the Matson lines … these would not roll around too much during high seas. The BIG Matson white hulled passenger liners were popular in the late 20’s through the 60’s. This is probably early 60’s mentions 4 ships Lurline, Mariposa, Matsonia and Monterey. Today, Matson lines concentrates on just container cargos and has no passenger operations. Mint: no chips or cracks!
Oh to have been a child aboard the Big U … the whole ship certainly would have been a playground … but the children in all classes were pampered even further with their own playrooms! This is a lovely chair from the sports deck FC playroom. The “vinyl” blue seating upholstery is in excellent shape (one little seam seperation on a top corner) . .. and the red frame shows a few scratches and dingys: Overall it is a GEM! *** Shipping calculator probably will not be accurate for this item ..
