Interesting series of 3 letters written on a fall 1925 voyage on the President Pierce. Some of the tone in the letters is pretty serious … some is lighthearted and Sprinkled with details of the voyage.
2 nice pieces for the Old Bay Line aka the Baltimore Steam Packet Company. These services covered the Chesapeake Bay and Potomac river routes .. and at the time were the oldest steamboat company in the US… services started in 1840! The City of Norfolk and City of Richmond were the last survivors … but would be soon retired.
The sturdy America debuted just before WW2 and quickly was ushered into WW2 military service. After the ware she was out leading lady till her larger and faster consort (The SS Unites States) came on the Atlantic scene. This First class deck plan is delightfully colored and contains outstanding interior photographs … USL marketing sure knew their stuff. Absolute Excellent condition and very informative.
Lovely orange colored Stock certificate for 100 shares of USL stock. Love the detailed SS America graphic at the top .. very detailed and I’m sure quite expensive for USL to produce. A little wrinkle to the left edge .. this is in good condition!
Cool set of 10 onboard pictures featuring SPL’s SS Creole. Great “Edwardian” interior rooms, one exterior profile and one close up of the funnel .. there are 10 photos in all. Great Unusual item!
Excellent ticket and document folder graced with the America’s funnels. Bright R/W/B colors and great graphics .. this is in excellent condition. Would have been used to hold passenger tickets , travelers checks and other voyage documents.
These came with a lot of SS American items … though only stamped United States Lines. These are still soft and supple but do show signs of age including being folded.

Excellent little log card for the America’s voyage to NYC from Southampton via Le Harve and Cobh. She crossed in 5 days 5 hours and 11 minutes … Fender was the captain!
Pristine post card for the SS America as she steams inbound toward NY harbor and past Lady Liberty. One of USL’s widely used images for the ship … and in great color.
Interesting set of Plastic model Instructions that would have come with A Pyro plastics model kit. I sure wish I had the model … the assembly instructions show up on both sides and are graphically interesting!

Great little bar of Ivory soap from a Grace Line ship. great little item …stills smells fresh as the day it was made! There are a few rust stains to the paper wrapper
The thrifty Chapman interests that owned the USL at this time combined breakfast and lunch menus for these meals in August 1929. These selections sound tastee… but certainly would not rival what was offered to those in First class. Though some warnings were being issued for stock market investors at this time … the great crash was still about 2 months away from the time this menu was printed. Interesting trident and USL houseflag detailing. Good condition with yellowing and some edge bumps.
Lovely foldout, issued in March 1965 this is in great shape. pretty ocean blue there are a few ship picture inside with all the rate info … also nice little description of the 2 sisters.

Double set of playing cards the last Grace Line twins. Gibb’s designed, they were the last passenger ships built at Newport News. The cards are very lightly used and in great shape ..all there in a heavy plastic case.
2 solid brass crew buttons from the Grace Line. These could use a good shining and seem to be in great shape with a little tarnish.

A great late from a Grace Line ship… Gold trimmed and sporting the Grace Line Flag. This defintely shows signs of onboard use … but in over all good condition No chicps or cracks.
The one and only commercial Neuclear powere ship .. the NS Savannah. Frank Braynard suggested the name for the ship to honor the first steam powed vessel to cross the ocean the SS Savannah of 1819 .. who was alos American. The “Atoms for Peace” ship was never really profitable… but she did demonstrate a Nuclear ship could be built, clean and functional, She can be toured today in Baltimore harbor when she is maintained. The cards did come from Frank’s VAST collection .. he had stacks! great condition and unused.
Excellent deck plan for the inaugural year of service for the ss Atlantic .. which joined American Export after her one class services with American Banner Line flopped. She said on for many, many years as the university ship the SS Universe. The plan is in great shape . stock photo
