Cunard Line- NAL: Sagafjord cruise pin dish
These heavy pin type dishes were all the rage for souvenirs aboard many cruise line vessels in the late 80’s to mid 90’s. This one is from an 11 day cruise for the Sagafjord. In perfect shape!
HAL: SS Statendam Souvenir Pin Dish
Perfect pin dish for the spotless little Statendam. She was the HAL flagship in the late 50’s until the Rotterdam came on the scene and took her spot. She made lots of money for her owners cruising .. and the image on the dish is after her early 70’s “Cinderella” refit. Perfect condition!
Holland America Line Cruises: Westerdam souvenir coffee mug
Nice crystal clear glass mug for the lovely Westerdam. The ship is outlines in gold and black and the cup is made from molded lobes of heavy glass. Certainly an onboard purchase as a memento or gift.
Holland American Line: Cordial class
Nice little crystal cordial glass from one of the HAL ships like the Statendam or Rotterdam. Lovely inscribed HAL “Nieuw Amsterdam” logo on the belly of the glass … would be a great add to your Cordial collection. Excellent shape.
HAL: Statendam paper model.
HAL: Rotterdam paper model
Regency Cruises: Knife from the Regent Sea.
I know this came from the Regent Sea (ex Gripsholm), cause a buddy of mine tucked it in his pocket when he was onboard her in Tampa. Stainless steel … certainly not the silver service that would have been onboard during the Gripsholm days. Thanks goodness folks removed items while she was laid up in Tampa … She sank on the way to the breakers.
Swedish American Line: SS Kungsholm builders book.
WOW… if Kungsholm is your ship … This is a must have item. It is in Gorgeous shape… with just a little tiny bit of spine wear. The contents are typical of these issues … lots of adverts for supplies for the ship … and then great detailed info/ plans/ interior pictures and mechanical pictures and lots of ETC. She was the first BIG new build for SAL ( I consider Stockholm to be small)… and was followed by Gripsholm and then replaced by Kungsholm (she was then sold to NDL to become Europa). In the 80’s, she was holed at Cadiz , sank into the harbor mud and later scrapped as Costa’s Columbus C’.
HAL: Rotterdam booklet by Miller and Corrieia
Lovely booklet that sums up the life of the Rotterdam. These seem to be fairly hard to find … as are others in this booklet series. I still get goose bumps when I see the Ritz Carleton and Ambassador rooms …. Truly masterpieces of 50’s Dutch design!
HAL: Nieuw Amsterdam Advert sign
Totally pristine and gorgeous hanging sign for the NA … you would think this was brand new! HAL used a lot of these types of “enameled” signs (as did other Lines) … I have seen them for most ships of in the 50’s. Stamped made in Belgium.
HAL: SS Rotterdam Cruise Plan
Just lovely cruise plan for the Rotterdam. The covers and pages are stiff like they were just printed. The plan covers the areas used for cruising … and has lovely pictures and isometrics of cabins. You can’t beat these! Date from 1968 and have an agency stamp! restocked!
HAL: Rotterdam, Nieuw Amsterdam, Statendam: 3 silver souvenir spoon set restocked!
These great souvenir spoons are still in their original box with tissue and “compliments from HAL card” . I am sure these were a VIP gift for some lucky passenger that probably booked a grand “spotless” cabin! I have no doubt these will shine up well with a little elbow grease.
SAL: Wooden hanger:
Good “3 crown” wooden hanger from the Swedish American line. This needs a little glue and repair work to the “delaminating” tip on one side. I’m pretty sure this came from the Gripsholm/ Regent Sea when she was laid up in Tampa.
HAL: Statendam Felt Souvenir Pennant
Felt souvenir pennant for HAL’s 1957 Statendam. She is one of my favorite 50’s ladies … and I have a few items from her from my buddy Peter Knego at www.midshipcentury.com. This pennant was used for sure … it has pin holes an the ends, the last “M” is a bit crinkled and it is missing one of the set of the tie tassels.
SAL: Pouf / Domed ashtray
Cute 3 crowned ashtray from a SAL ship. I see lots of these at Antique Malls advertised a “rare” and usually on sale for $25 or more. True ship lovers know these are pretty common … and I am certainly much more reasonably priced.
Holland American line: Union Prayer library book
Great Jewish services Union prayer book from a HAL library. There are several 1962 date stamps. Good Condition with tight binding.
HAL Loving Cup Trophy
Holland America Line Loving cup. These are always fun! this silver plated babe was probably given away as an award for an onboard event like horse racing or a costume party. Complete with the enameled Art Deco Nieuw Amsterdam” corporate logo.
NAL: Oslofjord Jack Knife
Oslofjord: A rare mother of pearl souvenir pocket knife for the 2 funnel inter-war Oslofjord. Her 2 funnel silhouette is inlaid into the top side of the knife case. Probably was a special gift for some lucky little boy at some point! This particular Oslofjord was a very early causality of WW2. This needs some attention to the blades…lil’ rustly
NAL: A wooden “Do Nothing”
NAL Souvenir wooden “Do Nothing”. NAL gave these away as advert promos for their freight service … where their service was so easy …you as the client would have to “do nothing”. It certainly works … and “does nothing” very well.
Swedish American Line: SS Stockholm Postcard
SS Stockholm. Great post card for the little Swedish ship that was the major player in sending the Andrea Doria to the bottom of Nantucket Shoals. Amazingly, the ship still survives in operation today .. albeit in a completely rebuilt form.
HAL: Knowing The Ropes Information booklet
Really cute little info booklet from the early 60’s … defines onboard amenities, nautical terms and gives good general shipboard info! Excellent condition!
HAL : Rotterdam Fact and Figure booklet
Great 1959 27 page booklet filled with Facts and Figure about the HAL Flagship. this was issued right before her Maiden voyage in 1959. The dutch were very proud of thier new ship …and rightly so! Excellent condition!
